In a multi-camera show, a tally light tells the presenter which camera is live and tells each operator when they are on air. It is a small light doing an important job — and traditionally it means running a cable to every camera, across a floor people walk on.

- Confirm your switcher. Compatibility is wide, but check yours first — send us the model and we will confirm it.
- Plan for the length of the day. The battery lasts 8 hours and is detachable, so for longer events plan a swap.
- Think about talkback too. Tally tells the crew who is live; intercom tells them what happens next.
